Augtober has arrived at last!!

Hello spellmaker readers!! It's finally August, and harvest season, with the observation of Lughnassadh on August 1st (if youre at all pagan coded like me) has commenced. Like many of us, fall, and especially Halloween,  is my very favorite time of year. This liminal space, somewhere between the green sunny days and long warm nights of summer, and the crisp, colorful, cozy autumn always warms my heart and makes my inner witch come to attention.

The crickets have begun their familiar song, lamenting summers end, children are preparing to return to school, and all the world has a dutiful buzz about it. This is merely a preface for the next 2 harvests, of course, the Autumn Equinox, and Samhain (and our beloved fet ghede here in our house.) But to me, with the sweet always comes the bitter. I cannot help but get a little sentimental about the end of swimming for the year (here in the northeast US, anyway), the long hours of daylight, and the easy, breezy nonchalance of summertime. Even though I love, and I do mean LOVE autumn, Im just a wee bit melancholy, and sad to see summer go.

Someone recently said to me that change is the only constant thing about life. Those words hit me deep. For here we are, at the changing of another season, with another opportunity to go with the flow of the earth's rhythms.

Pumpkin spice, for me, always bring prosperity magic to mind. Cinnamon especially, is a key herb used in money spells and potions. And the abundance of the harvest season just feels conducive to bringing all the good things my  way. Speaking of the harvest season, a little birdie (named Mambo Sam) once said that Baron Samedi and Maman Brigitte are quite excellent at helping with financial matters. ;)

So readers, I leave you with this; if your inner witch is waking up from a nice summer nap-what do you hope to conjure up with all of this early autumn energy? Are you letting go of things not meant for you? Thats another great way to channel fall!! And what do you hope to bring into your life to replace the outdated or negative things?

I wish you all a beautiful August, and a wonderful end to your summer. From my wistful little corner of the world to yours, I wish you every blessing!!
